Score 87/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2010
(a blend of merlot and cabernet franc) Deep red-ruby. At once roasted and a bit high-toned on the nose, offering somewhat port-like aromas of currant, earth, smoked meat and roasted coffee. Broad, fat and sweet, but with a firm spine of acidity giving shape to the rich, syrupy fruit flavors. I find this a bit porty and nutty, in need of more freshness. The syrupy quality carries through on the finish, where the tannins shows a dry edge.
