Ripe, sweet aromas of peach, flowers and nuts. Pure, penetrating and perfumed, with an enticing sugar/acid balance and lovely inner-mouth aromatic character. Not fat but plenty dense. In a rather elegant style, like the '05 version of this wine. Really stains the palate on the aftertaste. Wonderfully balanced wine, and the most forward of the Sauzet grand crus in '04.

(66-year-old vines; aged in one-third new oak, and two-thirds one-year-old barrels) Pale color. Reticent, subtle aromas of lemon and spicy oak. Sweet, dense and rich but also notably gripping, thanks to penetrating acidity and vibrant citrus skin notes. Unusually concentrated for the vintage (the yield was barely 32 hectoliters per hectare, says Boudot), due to the age of the vines and the smaller berries produced here. Today this is more impressive than the Combettes, which is not always the case at this stage.
