Tasting notes
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lupina Vineyard (from Lupin Ridge) emerges from a tiny site adjacent to Montecillo. It’s another wine in this range that shows how site-specific wines on Moon Mountain can be. A rush of dark-toned fruit, game, iron, scorched earth and incense races across the palate. The 2019 is deep and super-expressive, with a real sense of unrestrained wildness. Lupina is not especially refined, but it sure has a ton of character.

Debut vintage. 15-year-old vines, 200 ft from Montecillo Vineyard. Rich crimson. Rather sumptuous. Satin and opulence. One to look out for. (JR)
Packed with licorice and black cherry, a barrel sample of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lupina Vineyard was my favorite of all the wines I tasted with winemaker Ketan Mody this year. Rich, concentrated and expressive, it's still only medium to full-bodied but deep and dense and yet elegant as well. It's one I can't wait to taste again.
