Tasting notes
The 2016 Chardonnay UV Vineyard (Wente clone) features wonderfully intense notes of mangoes, ripe apricots and honeydew melon with hints of chalk dust, lime blossoms, lemongrass and brioche. Medium to full-bodied, the palate it so wonderfully intense it almost hurts, featuring vibrant tropical and citrus layers and finishing very long and very minerally. 220 cases produced.

Brought up in 60/40 new barrels and concrete eggs, the 2016 Chardonnay UV Vineyard is scheduled to be bottled next summer. It offers an exotic, tropical style with its mint, lime, tangerine peel notes. Medium-bodied, fresh, focused, and lively, with great acidity and a clean finish, it should age nicely for upwards of a decade. Maxem is the personal label of the talented winemaker for Arkenstone, Sam Kaplan. The first vintage here was in 2015.
