1999 Merryvale Profile

Bright red-ruby. Brooding aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice and black olive seem a bit stunted. Then concentrated and surprisingly plush on the palate, with flavors of black cherry, dark berries, mint and licorice conveying a slightly medicinal aspect. The dusty, initially suave tannins turned firmer with air but the finish lingers. I wanted a bit more verve and complexity but this is a solidly made blend. (14.5% alcohol)
