Tasting notes
Deep, rich, and concentrated, with a backward yet incredibly promising style, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The Grand Daddy reveals a vivid purple hue as well as a stunning bouquet of red and black fruits, smoked tobacco, iron, tapenade, and crushed stone. It's another 2018 that has closed down slightly since release and is full-bodied, with remarkable concentration and building tannins. It needs 2-4 years of bottle age to hit prime time and will evolve for two decades or more.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The Grand Daddy captures the Carter style at its best. Deep and layered, with striking aromatic presence and tons of breadth, the 2018 has so much going on. It is at once deep and yet very refined, with powerful but well-integrated tannins and fine balance.
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The Grand Daddy has a deep garnet-purple color, barreling out of the glass with energetic notes of fresh blueberries, black raspberries, ripe black and red currants and black olives with hints of cedar chest, powdered cinnamon, pencil lead and camphor. The full-bodied palate is laden with taut, crunchy black fruit, framed by firm, ripe, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long with loads of mineral sparks.
