2013 Pahlmeyer Malbec

The 2013 Malbec is magnificent, as it always has been. Rich, concentrated and unctuous, the 2013 Malbec possesses dazzling intensity of fruit, with high-toned aromatics and brilliant red-toned fruit. Plum, pomegranate and exotic floral notes blossom as this powerful, dazzling wine shows everything it's got. Once again, the 2013 Malbec is utterly captivating.

A deep, dense, inky wine, the 2013 has put on a considerable amount of weight over the last year. Savory herb, inky black fruit, smoke and licorice notes abound in this intense, voluptuous Malbec. The 2013 is just a bit less vibrant than it was at this time last year, but it is also just about to be bottled, and that can be a tricky time to see wines, especially if they need racking or the SO2 needs to be topped up.

Rose petal, mint, dark raspberry jam, pine, spices and sweet herbs are some of the many notes that emerge from the 2013 Malbec. The flavors are perfumed, savory and bright throughout. The 2013 is a bit more nuanced and less fruit-driven than the 2012, but every bit as compelling. Once again, the Malbec is one of the most appealing wines in this range. The 2013 was done entirely in puncheon.
