In contrast with the two 2018 Keller Pinots tasted alongside, here there is a savory, fleshy, animal aspect – akin to salted veal stock and smoked pork – already in the nose, accompanied by fresh blueberry and cassis with a hint of bay leaf. Strong, juicy fruit as well as the aforementioned savory elements serve nicely to keep oaky notes on the mid-palate from becoming drying or otherwise obstreperous. The finish is mouthwateringly sustained.
