Score 92+/100 · Drink 2019-2026, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2016

Bright medium yellow. Sexy, tangy aromas of preserved lemon, pineapple, crushed rock and menthol. Boasts terrific intensity and energy to its dense, soil-driven flavors of citrus zest and saline minerality. Really dusts the palate and vibrates on the long, weightless back end. A superb Pouilly-Fuissé with serious cut and thrust. (Barraud also opened a bottle of the 2008, a vintage that featured a small crop due to mildew losses. The wine was evolved in a positive way and still full of life, offering sexy scents of musky porcini and toasted bread; a very suave, pliant middle palate; and excellent lemony persistence. This bottle, which I rated 92 points, is at its apogee right now--but Barraud says the 2010 vintage has more energy.)

Lightly smoky and quite intense nose. Attractive savour and limpidity. Very juicy and gets the palate salivating. No excess sweetness. Really very fine. GV (JR)

(from 30- and 50-year-old vines planted directly on active white calcaire 300 meters above sea level in Vergisson): Bright lemon-yellow. Reticent aromas of ripe peach, nectarine and grapefruit zest complemented by sweet oak spices. The biggest and richest to this point of these 2014s but with lovely integrated acidity giving shape to this mouthfilling wine. There's still a citrus edge to be absorbed on the back end, but this classically dry wine is carrying a moderate four grams of acidity.
