The 1983 Doisy-Daëne, which was the last vintage made with Pierre Dubourdieu, has a generous, attractive bouquet with orange blossom, mango, candlewax and honeysuckle scents, well defined and quite youthful. The palate is well balanced with fine delineation, marmalade and dried orange peel mixed with lemongrass and citrus peel towards the finish. There is a sense of composure and cohesion here. Tasted at the vertical at Doisy-Daëne.

Doisy-Daene finished its harvest 1 month after d’Yquem, and has possibly produced this property's finest wine in over two decades. A big, ripe bouquet of pineapples, peaches, and spring flowers is very attractive. On the palate, the wine is concentrated, full bodied, and unctuous, without being too heavy or alcoholic. Excellent acidity suggests a long, eventful evolution. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010. Last tasted, 3/90.

About the producer
This Second Growth estate has origins dating back to the late 1800s. It is, however, under the ownership of the Dubourdieu family – who took over the Barsac property in 1924 – that Ch. Doisy-Daëne truly flourished.
