Tasting notes
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Leopoldina Vineyard is a dark, sensual beauty. Blackberry, gravel, incense and lavender open with some reluctance. In this tasting, the Leopoldina comes across as compact, tightly wound and also a bit more advanced than the other wines in the range. The riper side of the year feels especially evident here. Then again, it's hard to escape the elements in this well-exposed, hillside site in eastern Oakville.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Leopoldina is rich, luscious and super-inviting. Voluptuous, racy fruit and silky tannins add to the wine's considerable appeal. The open, radiant personality of this site in the eastern hills of Oakville comes through loud and clear. There is so much to like in this sensual, inviting Cabernet from Turnbull. Super-ripe red cherry, pomegranate, cedar, espresso and floral notes give the wine a very distinctive aromatic signature that plays off the intense fruit very nicely. (AG)
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Leopoldina Vineyard is deep purple-black in color with a nose of fresh blackcurrants and black berries with hints of dried Provence herbs, black soil and garrigue plus a waft of tapenade. Medium to full-bodied, taut and muscular in the mouth, the densely packed fruit has a firm foundation of grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing with great purity.
