Rocking stuff, the 2018 Grenache River Rock Vineyard sports a vivid ruby/purple/translucent color as well as a great nose of framboise, wild strawberry, and blueberry fruits interwoven with plenty of sweet earth, spice, and herbes de Provence-like aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, with a round, supple, seamless texture, it has hints of classic Rocks funkiness yet leads with seriously gorgeous fruit. It's great today yet is going to evolve for 10-12 years. It's up with the finest Grenache in this report. One of the most exciting new labels out there is PÁŠXA Wines (pronounced “Pahk-sha”), which was created by owner Mike Martin (also behind the incredible wines at The Walls) and focuses on the Rocks region of the Walla Walla Valley. The wines are made by Todd Alexander of Force Majeure, and the vineyards are farmed by Walla Walla Vineyard expert Serafin Saldana. Their 2018s are the first release, but trust me, this is an estate worth jumping on.
