Score 92/100 · Drink 2015-2030, Robert Parker, May 2011
This backward, opaque purple-colored 2001 needs another 4-5 years of cellaring. Tasting more like a 3-4 year old Cabernet Sauvignon, this mountain-grown effort is a blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Malbec. Abundant blueberry, white flower, black currant, licorice and crushed rock aromas are followed by a full-bodied, powerful, rich wine with plenty of tannins still to be resolved. Pure, impressively balanced and large scaled with considerable high elevation elegance, it should hit its prime by 2015 and last for 15+ years thereafter. Tel. (800) 877-3623 (Schramsberg)
