Tasting notes
Hailing from a 2010 planting of a Merry Edwards selection, the 2022 Pinot Noir Hapgood offers up pretty aromas of dried flowers, citrus peels, cinnamon and anise. The palate is voluminous yet silky and precise, leading to a clean, structured finish with delicious saline accents. I found this a highlight of the Brewer-Clifton Pinot Noirs for its balance between power, verve and grace.

Juicy dark cherries, mulberries, forest floor, rose, and loamy, earthy notes all emerge from the 2022 Pinot Noir Hapgood, another complex, medium to full-bodied, incredibly compelling Pinot Noir from Brewer. It's not massive but brings ripe tannins, a soft, supple mouthfeel, and a great finish. Its balance is spot on, and this beauty will have 15 years or more of overall longevity. 289 cases.
The 2022 Pinot Noir Hapgood is a classic Brewer-Clifton wine. It offers gorgeous red cherry fruit and a decidedly spicy, exotic quality from the whole clusters. Sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, mint, cinnamon and dried flowers linger. This cold site on sandy soils is so distinctive, as are the wines it yields.
