Score 89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous
(55% petit verdot, with 38% cabernet sauvignon and 7% cabernet franc) Bright ruby-red, a bit less saturated than the flagship offering. Aromas of black raspberry, blueberry, licorice and menthol (Delia Viader describes the nose as flashier). Silky on entry, then tightly wound in the middle, with firm underlying structure. Conveys an impression of strong acidity and thus comes across as less pliant today. But juicy and sweet. Finishes with dusty, fine tannins and a note of dark chocolate.
