Medium red. Brambly red berries, spices and sage on the wild nose. Juicy and bright, with harmonious acidity giving cut to the red berry fruit. Became a bit creamier as it opened in the mouth. This lively zin should put on weight with aging. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and very good energy.

The 2006 Zinfandel is a classic mountain Zinfandel revealing plenty of minerality, spice, herb, and pepper notes along with copious quantities of black raspberry and kirsch fruit. Full-bodied with admirable grip and focus, and no hard edges, it can be drunk over the next 3-4 years. This beautiful 40-acre estate (19 of which are under vine) high on Howell Mountain enjoys a sensational view of Napa Valley and the Mayacamas Mountains to the west. The renowned Thomas Brown is the winemaker. There are only around 300+ cases of the Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon and significantly less of the single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon True Vineyard. Good full red. Pungent aromas of chocolate liqueur, orange oil and spices. Sweet and lush on entry, then thick and silky but bright, with strong acidity giving thrust to the middle palate. An impressively deep zinfandel with a long, broad, ripely tannic finish.
