Small vineyard owned by Stan Kroenke with quartz and flintstone and slightly north facing. But nowadays they get a much smaller proportion of the fruit than they used to. Small vines and intense grapes. Pale straw. The merest hint of butterscotch with some green fruit. Very concentrated, with ageing potential and vibrancy.

The 2016 Chardonnay Bentrock has all the potential to develop into something truly special. Intense and powerful, but also quite fresh because of the north-facing orientation of this block, the Bentrock has a lot to offer. Time in the glass fleshes out the wine nicely, but the best is yet to come.
