Herold's 2012 Acha, 100% Tempranillo, is striking. Dark red and black fruit, smoke, tobacco and incense are all supported by a spine of firm tannin and lively acidity. There is a lot to like here.

The 2012 Acha is 100% Tempranillo, and Herold has nailed it. It’s sensual, with lots of blackcurrant, black cherry fruit, silky tannins, decent acidity and a nice, lovely, round, juicy mouthfeel and finish. This is a very hedonistic, consumer-friendly group of wines that merit serious attention.
