(a 54/46 blend of Sonoma County and Lake County fruit; aged for five months on its lees in stainless steel tank): Pale, bright yellow. Lemon zest, grapefruit and a hint of licorice on the nose. Rich, tactile and broad; dry but ripe, showing good precision and palate presence. Not quite the depth of the Pionniers but more bracing.

A blend of 54% Sonoma Sauvignon Blanc and 46% Lake County Sauvignon Blanc, the 2012 Sauvignon Blanc Tradition reveals an intense perfume of honeyed citrus, figs and melons. This enticing, dry white is beautifully textured with outstanding concentration, a touch of spice (no doubt from being aged sur-lie), and a crisp, naked, complex style. It shows the French savoir faire combined with the exceptional fruit Mother Nature can bestow on many Northern California vineyards. Enjoy this singular style of Sauvignon over the next 2-3 years. This relatively new, interesting enterprise was created by May-Britt and Denis Malbec. Denis, who long worked in Bordeaux, has become an increasingly respected and sought-after wine consultant in Northern California. Consequently, it is not surprising that the Capture cuvees are strongly Bordeaux-influenced from philosophy and winemaking perspectives. Tel. (707) 395-0457
