Lots of classic Syrah dark fruits, bacon fat, cured meat, and violets emerge from the 2018 Syrah Diamond Bar, which comes from the Skinner Family Vineyard in Fairplay. It has beautiful dark fruits, medium to full-bodied richness, moderate acidity, and a charming, undeniably delicious style. I don’t think it’s going to make old bones, but it’s a gem to enjoy over the coming 5-7 years.

The 2018 Diamond Bar is 100% Syrah from Skinner, in the Fair Play AVA. It is one of the more nervous wines in this range. There is lovely purity to the fruit, though. Readers will find a mid-weight, energetic Syrah full of character. Hints of black pepper, mint and sage linger.
