Reminding me of a Cabernet from Schrader (which shouldn’t be a surprise since they’re both made by the same winemaker), the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon comes all from Oakville and spent 20 months in 100% new French oak. This brilliant effort boasts a dense purple color as well as pure cassis, smoked tobacco, chocolate, and a touch of graphite on the nose. Full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, and flawlessly balanced, this quintessential Napa Valley Cabernet will drink well for 25-30 years.

This is the first Cabernet Sauvignon ever to be made by Senses. Medium to deep ruby-purple, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville slowly opens to aromas of warm red and black currants, dried red cherries, hoisin and cedar with touches of flowers, dark chocolate and a hint of pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, it's lush and dense in the mouth—concentrated, not heavy—with layers of warm red and black fruits, chocolate and spices. It has wonderfully ripe, very fine, grainy tannins and good freshness to lift the long finish. Classy!
