Tasting notes
Coming from dry-farmed fruit in Calistoga, in the northern part of the Valley, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Bone Ash Vineyard boasts a deep purple color to go with a ripe, powerful bouquet of black fruits, asphalt, smoked tobacco, and dark chocolate. It's rich, full-bodied, and powerful, with a backward, austere core of tannin that isn't completely covered by fruit. Nevertheless, it has balance, good depth of fruit, and while firm, the tannins are ripe. In addition, this cuvée is always tannic in its youth. Give it 3-4 years and it's going to keep for 15-20 years or more. As with the other cuvées here, it’s a tiny production and there are only 395 cases made.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Bone Ash Vineyard has a nose of cedar, baked black currant, blackberry compote and dried mulberries with hints of plum pudding, coffee and fried herbs. Full-bodied, it is raisiny in mouth with a firm, chewy texture and hard finish.
