Tasting notes
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is more closed on the nose than Roumier's Les Amoureuses, darker fruit, perhaps undergoing more extraction in the winery. Veins of blue fruit emerge with time in the glass. The palate is chewy with saturated tannins, quite dense and muscular, powerful and forthright. Feel very de Vogüé in style with an almost uncontained finish that cannot disguise the warmth of that summer. It will need considerable time in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a bewitching bouquet of ample black cherry, blueberry and violet aromas, a quintessential Amoureuses defined by its purity and controlled opulence. The palate is, again, extremely pure and caressing, offering sorbet-like freshness and palpable energy, and delivering a crescendo of flavor as it fans out on the finish with blueberry, cassis, crushed stone and blood orange notes. Fabulous.
