2022 Petite Syrah Turley Estate is opaque ruby black in the glass, leading with dense but perfumed aromas of crushed black plums, blackcurrant, gravel dust, iron, violet and some woodsy tinges with air. The full-bodied palate is lavishly opulent and explodes with violet-laced blue and black fruit with seemingly endless concentration. The finish features a firm yet ripe frame of grainy tannins and vibrant acidity that helps pull out purple flowers on the long, flavorful finish. Although slightly less boisterous than is typical, this bold, unapologetically ripe showing will take years to exit its youthfully dense primary phase.
