Tasting notes
Pichler's 2014 Riesling Smaragd Loibner Steinertal offers a bright and concentrated stone fruit bouquet intermixed with deep crushed stones and mineral notes. Medium to full-bodied, pure and full of tension, this is a very stony flavored Riesling cru. It has a compact structure and a long and aromatic, as well as grippy finish. Still very young, but also promising.

White peach aromas and flavors, both fresh and penetratingly distillate-like, are accented by fruit pit and smoky Szechuan pepper and wreathed in bittersweet floral perfume. Esterous volatile elements, bittersweet cyanic notes and smoky peppercorns follow throughout a silken-textured, expansive yet exhilaratingly buoyant and energetic palate performance. A crushed-stone suffusion heightens the impression of high extract, leading into a kaleidoscopically complex finish.
