Tasting notes
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Family Reserve fleshes out in all directions with an exciting tapestry of sweet tobacco, incense, dried Provençal herbs, espresso, black cherries and plums. This is a decidedly full-bodied intense wine from Venge. The tannins are quite firm, suggesting the wine needs time to soften, but regardless, the power and concentration are impressive. The aromas are just a touch forward, suggesting the 2009 won't be a super long lived wine, but that should not be too much of a problem as this will be long gone by then. The blend is 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Family Reserve offers up raspberry jam, alcohol, menthol and spices. This is an extremely alcoholic wine, even within the context of the style.
