Tasting notes
The 2012 Proprietary Red Blender Boy is an assemblage of 50% Cabernet Franc, 20% Petit Verdot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petite Syrah and the rest 5% Lagrein (go figure) and 5% Merlot. This is a fruit-forward, opulent, delicious, sexy style of wine that really reflects the house style of Behrens Family Winery. The color is a dense ruby/purple and the wine has low acidity, ripe tannin and a boatload of fruit. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.

The 2012 Blender Boy is wonderfully complex and exotic, much of that coming from a blend that incorporates Petite Sirah and Lagrein alongside Bordeaux varieties. Rose petals, mint, sweet herbs, pomegranate and juicy red stone fruits blossom in the glass. All the elements come together in a deep, powerful wine endowed with serious resonance and intensity. Sweet floral and savory notes inform the highly expressive finish. This is the first Blender Boy since 2008, and it is a beauty.
