Tasting notes
The 2016 Zinfandel Carlisle is medium to deep garnet colored with a nose of baked blackberries, prunes, blueberry pie and licorice with tar and dusty earth notions plus exotic spices hints. Full-bodied and bursting with decadent black fruit and spice layers, it has a rock-solid frame of chewy tannins and just enough refreshing lift, finishing lively and long.

The 2016 Carlisle Vineyard is distinguished by its red fruit-leaning profile, silky tannins and plush mouthfeel. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, blood orange and spice are nicely pushed forward. This is an especially racy wine with tons of early appeal and enough acidity to support many years of exceptional drinking. The 2016s from Bedrock are stellar across the board, but the 2016 Carlisle has a little something extra that elevates it into the stratosphere. Readers who can get their hands on a few bottles will be thrilled.
