Tasting notes
(100% cabernet sauvignon) Good bright medium ruby. Slightly roasted aromas of currant, hot rocks, smoked meat, tobacco, menthol and sexy oak. Sweet and smooth, with lush flavors of black plum, mocha and chocolate nicely framed by adequate acidity. The broad, fine, dusty tannins hit the palate late and build.

This small operation, run by Stanley and Helen Cheng with the assistance of well-known wine consultant, Mark Herold, produces 300+ cases of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 19-20 months in new oak. Tasted just prior to bottling, the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a dark ruby/purple color as well as elegant, stylish notes of espresso roast, black currants, and toasty oak in a medium-bodied, soft, attractive format. It should drink well for 10-12 years. Previously recommended: 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon (93). Tel. (707) 551-2882; Fax (707) 551-2951
Good bright medium ruby. Sappy, sweet aromas of blackberry liqueur and roast coffee. This boasts compelling sweetness of fruit, with the blackberry and cassis flavors nicely framed by ripe acids. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins, excellent length and considerable power. This seems clearly superior to the 2003, with strong fruit and a fleshier middle palate.
