Score 92/100 · Drink 2013-2020, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Nov 2013

The 2010 Leviathan is drop-dead gorgeous. Smoke, plums, mocha, graphite, savory herbs and tobacco all explode from the glass. Layered, rich and expressive, the 2010 impresses for its purity and depth. The blend is 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and the rest Syrah and Cabernet Franc.

Score 89/100 · Drink 2013-2028, Robert Parker, Oct 2013

Favia’s second wine is called Leviathan, and the 2010 is an attractive, soft, round, fruity red that does not have the concentration or profound perfume of its bigger siblings, but it is a lovely, seductive, fleshy wine offering lots of red and black currants, spring flowers and spice box. It is an interesting blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc that should drink well for 10-15 years. This small, high quality boutique operation is a joint venture between Annie Favia and winemaker and consultant Andy Erickson. By and large, not a lot of these wines are made, usually under 300 cases. The 2010s, which are currently on the market, are brilliant. Tel: (707)252-1484, www.leviathanwine.com
