Tasting notes
The 2016 Pinot Noir Mononi Vineyard comes from a site in the Russian River and was 90% destemmed and spent 11 months in one-third new French oak. Ripe mulberries, forest floor, and smoky notes all give way to a concentrated, pretty, elegant effort that has terrific purity, building depth and richness, and a great finish. It's approachable today yet still is slightly wound up and tight so I'd give bottles another year or two.

The 2016 Pinot Noir Mononi Vineyard is another powerful, dark wine in this range. Dried cherry, savory herb, smoke, French oak, leather, earth, licorice and torrefaction notes abound. The Mononi is at once bombastic and medium-bodied.
The 2016 Pinot Noir Mononi Vineyard is pale to medium ruby in color with crushed blueberry and cranberry sauce to begin, opening to savory notes of green peppercorn and tobacco leaf with a core of sweet red berries. Medium-bodied with concentrated fruits in the mouth and loads of savory accents, it has fine, grainy tannins and juicy acidity, finishing very long and very savory. 568 cases produced.
