Tasting notes
Slightly more expensive, the 2015 Pinot Noir Two Birds Estate Vineyard comes from the Russian River Valley and was completely destemmed and aged 12 months in 40% new French oak. Red and black fruits, spice, dried earth, and hints of mint all emerge from this beautifully clean, polished, elegant effort. With fine, fine tannin and a clean finish, not to mention perfect balance, it's a gorgeous effort that's going to drink nicely for a decade or more.

Coming from the estate’s vineyard, the 2015 Pinot Noir Two Birds Vineyard displays a medium to deep ruby-purple color and is scented of black cherries, warm cranberries and mulberries with nuances of sautéed herbs, moss, crushed rocks and fertile soil plus a hint of menthol. Medium to full-bodied, the palate gives mouth-filling fruit with beautiful background freshness and plenty of chew, finishing long and earthy. 255 cases were made.
The 2015 Pinot Noir Two Birds, from the Arista estate, is a powerful, explosive wine. Black cherry, smoke, leather, licorice and French oak are some of the signatures. There is good depth, but coarse tannins give the 2015 a somewhat chunky feel. At times, the alcohol is also a bit pronounced.
