2011 Merry Edwards Pinot Noir Klopp Ranch

(14.4% alcohol): Good bright, dark red. Aromas of coffee and truffle are currently dominated by oak and pepper. Densely packed but unforthcoming today, without quite the flavor intensity or early personality of the Flax Vineyard bottling. Good texture here but I wanted more primary fruit. Finishes with an earthy nuance and a slight oaky dryness. An awkward showing.
