Tasting notes
Deep ruby-red. Aromas of dark berry liqueur, dark chocolate, menthol and pepper. Fat and silky if a bit aggressive with alcohol; slightly roasted flavors of black berry and licorice. More savory than sweet, with the fruit flavors showing a distinct hot-year character. Finishes with a note of chocolate.

An impressively endowed offering is the big, rich 2004 Zinfandel Duarte Vineyard. There are usually fewer than 500 cases of this effort, which generally reveals southern Rhone-like garrigue characteristics along with plenty of soil overtones, fresh black cherries, and a spicy, heady finish.
