Score 91/100 · Drink 2018-2028, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2017
The 2014 Lithic comes across as quite tannic and structured, which gives the wine a decidedly brooding, unyielding feel. Even with considerable aeration the 2014 never seems to find its center. There is good aromatic presence, with lovely cedar, tobacco, leather and menthol notes that develop in the glass, but the fierce tannins are battling the fruit. It will be interesting to see if the Lithic finds a bit better balance with more time in bottle.

A powerful, explosive wine, Helen Keplinger's 2014 Lithic boasts notable power, yet all of that intensity has been achieved while maintaining a considerable amount of energy and delineation.
