The 2021 Pinot Noir Martaella Vineyard has a light smoky and flinty lift, with aromas of raspberry liqueur, fresh roses, and pine. Full-bodied, it offers highly refined tannins, a supple texture, and an expansive feel without being heavy. With blackberry, violets, and sweet herbs, followed by smoky incense on the finish, it’s a very attractive wine as it opens up and would do well to decant if opening now. Drink it over the next 15 or more years.

Matured for 15 months in 60% new oak, the 2021 Pinot Noir Martaella Vineyard has a medium ruby-purple color and is wonderfully expressive this vintage! It floods the senses with rhubarb, pomegranate, blueberry, pipe tobacco, lilac and tea leaf aromas, offering something new with each return to the glass. The medium-bodied palate is silky and bright, unfurling floral nuance as it moves through the mouth, and it has a long, layered finish with spicy accents. 499 cases were made.

Williams Selyem is an iconic Russian River Valley winery best known for its Pinot Noir. Producing restrained yet classically Californian expressions of the heartbreak grape (as well as a host of other wines), the property has gone from pioneer to one of the region’s standard-bearers.
