Tasting notes
The 2022 Grenache Lumiere Larner Vineyard offers scrumptious, juicy aromas of red cherries, strawberry pie, rhubarb and anise. The palate is medium-bodied, succulent and refined before transitioning to a structured, tense finish with fine-grained tannins and ever-expanding length. While I found this lacked the depth and complexity of the Ora et Labora bottling, it is a beautiful rendition of a classic Ballard Canyon vineyard.

The 2022 Grenache Lumiere Larner Vineyard comes from one of the top sites in the Ballard Canyon region of Santa Barbara County and was destemmed and spent 20 months in neutral oak. Its medium ruby hue is followed by a juicy, medium-bodied, nicely balanced Grenache that has textbook aromatics of ripe red fruits, savory herbs, ground pepper, and sappy flowers. A Pinot Noir-like expression of the variety, it blossoms with air and is going to have a solid 7-8 years of longevity.
The 2022 Grenache Larner Vineyard Lumiere is an attractive, inviting wine. Crushed flowers, red cherry fruit, kirsch and rose petal make a strong first impression. Juicy and medium in body, the 2022 is rather forward. There's plenty of immediacy here.
