Tasting notes
Vice Versa's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon The Magnificent Seven flips the script and blends across four different vineyards. It's 50% To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon; smaller, equal parts of Cabernet Sauvignon from Ecotone, Las Piedras and Steltzner; and 4% To Kalon Cabernet Franc, all aged 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels. While being full-bodied on the palate, it's gently lifted and minty up front, moving easily into ripe cherries and dusty earth or suede notes. Like many great wines, it manages to somehow be concentrated and rich yet also bright and fresh, finishing long and richly textured.

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon The Magnificent Seven is the first vintage of this cuvée that includes vineyards outside of the To Kalon, Dr. Crane, and Las Piedras, with small amounts of Steltzner and Ecotone making the blend. Red and black fruit, new leather, iron, and baking spices all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with full body, a deep, layered, seamless mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a killer finish. It’s another absolutely brilliant wine from this team that defies the vintage.
