Tasting notes
A 220-case selection of the best barrels (not coincidentally, all new) from each of the vineyards in the cellar, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon The Magnificent Seven offers up scents of brandied cherries, baking spices and a slightly lifted, floral character. It's full-bodied, plush and creamy, and while I suspect it may be just too big and hedonistic for some tasters, it's a tremendous wine, with ample concentration and a super long, velvety finish.

There’s a tiny amount of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon The Magnificent Seven, a selection from To Kalon, Dr. Crane, and Las Piedras that saw 18 months in new oak. This deep purple-hued beauty offers more cassis and blue fruits as well as gorgeous gravelly earth, violets, and crushed stone notes. I suspect there’s more To Kalon in here, and it shows more red, blue, and black fruits and floral notes with air, and is full-bodied, has a tight, focused mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great, great finish. It will most likely merit a triple-digit rating in 4-5 years and should evolve for 20-25 years. The quality across the board at Vice Versa is staggering, and readers can’t go wrong with any of these wines.
