Tasting notes
Full bottle just 1,260 g. Ketan Mody of Jasud Estate says he spends the money on corks. Certainly not labels which are made from packing tape. From a site that Kistler bought and tore out. Bedrock have also made Chardonnay from here. Golden. Spicy and round with more intensity and savour than many California Chardonnays. Impressive longevity. (JR)

Fermented and matured in demi-muids of 600 liters, the 2018 Chardonnay Chuy Vineyard features delicate notes of toasted hazelnuts and ripe peaches. Medium to full-bodied, it's plump and mouthwatering but fades just a little quickly on the finish. Dry-farmed and head-pruned, planted to the Old Wente selection, it's the sort of vineyard that Beta owner/winemaker Ketan Mody is deliberately seeking out.
The 2018 Chardonnay Chuy is a powerfully, phenolic wine that captures the essence of this Sonoma Valley site. Lemon peel, graphite, mint, white flowers and white pepper give the 2018 striking aromatics, but the Chuy is really a Chardonnay of texture more than anything else. It is truly a wine of class and pedigree. (AG)
