(14% alcohol): Bright medium ruby. High-toned dark berry aromas are joined by a weedy nuance and a whiff of Band-Aid. Quite sweet and plush on the palate, conveying a distinctly high-toned quality to the flavors of cassis, black cherry, licorice and herbs. Finishes with slightly dusty, chewy tannins and a touch of dryness. A rather unrefined Cabernet with its chocolate and herbal elements a bit disjointed. I don't see this improving further.

Exotic cassis, wild raspberry, vanilla and spice flood the nose. Soft, mouth-coating vanillin, baking spice, pie cherry and black raspberry. Moderate acidity, lush texture and round tannins. Immediately enjoyable. (LM) $95
