Tasting notes
One of my favorite wineries for realistic pricing and high quality, Robert Craig has produced a dense ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain from a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc that was aged 20 months in French oak (80% new). Extraordinary floral, cassis and mulberry aromas jump from the glass of this full-bodied Cabernet that offers beautiful integration of acidity, tannin and alcohol. A stunner, the aromatics alone would persuade me to buy this wine. Still youthful, it is capable of lasting another 10-15 years. Tel. (707) 252-2250

Intense boysenberry, mineral, vanilla and fresh-herb nose. Deep and opulent, it’s ripe but not overly so. Quite sturdy and with chewy mountain tannins. (LM) $70
