The 2022 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard sees more whole clusters and less new oak than the other wines in the Pisoni range, a combination that affords it noticeably more clarity and balance. The nose opens with dehydrated red fruits and tobacco aromas, transitioning to a soft, velvety palate. It concludes with a ripe yet structured, grippy finish that manages an ethereal, mineral-tinged lift with some coaxing.

Possessing a Gevrey-like perfume of ripe darker fruits, underbrush, game, and hints of iron, the 2022 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard is medium to full-bodied and has a nicely concentrated, textured mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and well-integrated acidity. It's not far off the style of the Garys' Vineyard, with nicely integrated stems (it was fermented with 20% whole clusters), and it turns more rose petal and floral with air. Don't be afraid to give this plenty of air if drinking any time soon. I love its complexity as well as its elegance paired with impressive richness on the palate.
The 2022 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard is floral and lifted but also rich and concentrated. Dark rose petals, dark sweet cherry, pomegranate, baking spice and a soft embrace of extremely fine, gauze-like tannin lends structure. In spite of its dark character, ample freshness and clear delineation of flavors are at play. Well done.
