Tasting notes
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Caravina is going to need at least a few years to fully come together. Aromatically expressive and beautifully layered in the glass, the 2014 delivers superb quality and pedigree for the money. Smoke, cedar, tobacco, graphite, tar, licorice and dried herbs add the closing shades of nuance. Caravina remains one of the very best values in Napa Valley Cabernet.

The 2014 Proprietary Red Caravina, which is essentially a second wine, is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Petit Verdot. It is the biggest production wine of 2,200 cases. This wine shows chocolaty, red and blackcurrant flavors, damp earth and loamy soil notes, and a good bit of spice in a medium-bodied, easy-to-drink style best consumed over the next 10-15 years.
