Score 90/100 · Robert Parker, Oct 2016
Melka’s 2014 Mekerra Proprietary White is a blend of 97% Sauvignon Blanc and 3% Muscadel aged 21 months in two-thirds new French oak. It is a Bordeaux style of dry white, with crushed rock, honeyed grapefruit, a touch of melon and some floral notes. It is expensive, but it is certainly an outstanding Sauvignon Blanc, made in a French style, which is not surprising since Melka hails from southwest France.

The 2014 Mekerra White is mostly Sauvignon Blanc with a dollop of Muscadelle. Lemon confit and expressive floral notes are nicely delineated throughout. The aromatics are quite pretty, but the wine is a bit less generous on the palate than it typically is.
