The 2009 Sauvignon Blanc Les Pionniers exhibits more minerality with notes of wet stones, honeyed citrus, melons and figs. This medium-bodied white cuts a slightly deeper, more exuberant swath across the palate and possesses a surprisingly long finish. These two offerings from proprietors Ben and Tara Sharp will be well-received by consumers. Tel. (707) 395-0457

Pale color. Subdued aromas of soft citrus fruits, lemon drop, minerals and spearmint, plus a whiff of goat cheese. Softer, lusher and fruitier than the Tradition but with firm acids framing the flavors of jasmine, honeysuckle, tarragon and licorice. This is even more Loire-like than the Tradition, but deeper and more pliant.
