Tasting notes
Dark purple and black fruit, spices, licorice and leather all meld together in the 2012 Sumo, Keplinger's Petite Sirah-based blend. Sweet floral and spice notes wrap around a core of ripe, inky Petite fruit. Racy and full-throttle all the way, the 2012 is wonderfully expressive today. Drink this voluptuous, intense red over the next 7-10 years. There is plenty to look forward to as the 2012 continues to develop in bottle.

(88% petite sirah, 10% syrah and 2% viognier): Saturated bright, deep ruby to the rim. Vibrant aromas of blackberry, violet and licorice. Brisk and very intense, with terrific shape and grip to the flavors of darkest berries, bitter chocolate and licorice pastille. Much sweeter than the 2011, with a slightly high-toned character that will give it considerable early appeal. Like the superb 2010 version, this is quite classy for petite sirah.
