Tasting notes
Blended of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Merlot, the 2014 Proprietary Red EE Tench Vineyard has a deep garnet color. It springs from the glass with bright, youthful scents of baked red and black cherries, blackcurrant pastilles, candied violets and espresso, with underlying hints of sassafras, Sichuan pepper and tobacco. The full-bodied palate is surprisingly energetic and light on its feet, featuring a very firm, rock-solid structure of ripe, grainy tannins and lovely freshness, finishing with loads of persistent earth and mineral layers. Only 220 cases were made this year.

The 2014 Red Wine EE Tench Vineyard is surprisingly seamless and open-knit for such a young wine. Succulent dark cherry, plum, spice, licorice, mocha and chocolate fill out the wine's supple, inviting frame effortlessly. Best of all, the 2014 will drink well with minimal cellaring.
Absolutely perfect is the incredible blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Cabernet Franc – the 2014 Proprietary Red EE. Only 220 cases were made of this wine that was aged in equal parts Taransaud and Darnajou. It has a compelling fragrance of spring flowers, blackberry and cassis, graphite, licorice and truffle. The wine has incredible length, density, full body and superb finish of close to 50+ seconds. It is a big, super-complex wine already, and should continue to offer off-the-charts drinking pleasure for another 15 or more years.
