Lots of ripe black cherry, plum, spice box, and licorice notes emerge from the 2017 Pinot Noir Lewis Macgregor Estate Vineyard. This meaty, medium to full-bodied effort has plenty of fruit, a balanced, nicely textured mouthfeel, and good acidity keeping everything fresh and lively. It's going to benefit from a year or so in bottle and keep for 4-6.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Lewis MacGregor Estate Vineyard has a wonderfully layered, perfumed nose! Dried cranberries, warm raspberries and lilac dance out of the glass with accents of saline, pipe tobacco, pink peppercorn, perfumed earth, rose petal and dusty notions. It's medium-bodied with intense fruit, spice and earth layers, woven with ripe, grainy tannins and juicy acidity, finishing long and incredibly perfumed. This is drinking beautifully now, but it will reward another couple of years of patience. 385 cases produced.

This is from an east-facing plot that was planted in the late 1990’s and is an early-ripening site. There are earthy and dry-wood elements, together with blueberries, violet flowers and dark cherries. The palate has a rich, sleek and smoothly crafted feel with a wealth of supple and layered tannins. A blood-orange note to close. Drink or hold.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Lewis MacGregor Estate Vineyard is decidedly boisterous, with a huge core of ripe fruit and equally imposing tannins. This is an especially muscular style of Russian River Pinot. All the elements meld together effortlessly in this powerful, resonant Pinot. Readers will have to be patient, though, as the 2017 needs time. Hard candy, blood orange, spice and star anise add an exotic flavor to this potent Pinot.
