Tasting notes
The 2017 Chardonnay Martinelli Road is shy on the nose. With coaxing, it gives glimpses of floral perfume and white apricots accented by hay, saline, almonds and honey aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, super silky and concentrated with its savory character tempered by tangy acidity and gentle yeasty touches, finishing long and nuanced.

The 2017 Chardonnay Martinelli Road is one of the brighter wines in this range. Orchard fruit, white flowers, mint and white pepper give the Martinelli Road striking aromatic freshness and lift. This is the coolest of Chardonnay sites in the Martinelli portfolio. I especially like the weightless energy here.

About the producer

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
